Once, twice - It doesn't seem to crack under her touch, the coldness sticking to her skin even when she brings her hand up to her mouth and breathes upon it.[break][break]

"That's so cool..." Tilting her head to the right, she smiles at the very person who's brought her to this so-called secret spot. "It's all ice, Isaac! It's really frozen solid! Touch it!"

[attr="class","textbox"]If Isaac had a nickel for every time he'd found a secret water source in the middle of the Petalburg Woods, he'd have two nickels. It wasn't a lot, but it was kind of wild that it happened twice.[break][break]

Luckily, this time he wasn't being wheeled over to this secret spot by a pair of legendaries who didn't want to see him die. Instead, he was taken there by his silly little sister, who was taken in by the marvel of such a deep freeze.[break][break]

What was a wonder to her was mildly concerning to him. Hoenn really wasn't supposed to have such strong cold snaps. Even when it did, he'd rather they didn't happen to the forest he was sheltering. Trying to help repair this place was hard enough without Kyurem's frosts threatening it. However, with the woods still in recognizable condition, he let himself relax. Maybe this was just the final trial needed to prove his endeavors worthy.[break][break]

Besides, he earned some R+R.[break][break]

With a smile, Isaac followed Eris' orders. "Wow, you're not kidding," he said, giving the ice a few good presses to make sure it was safe. Sure enough, right now it wasn't even giving an inch. Concerning, yet impressive. "Haven't seen ice like this since Circhester."

Somehow, she feels like she's been there too. And yet, the only real journey to Galar she's ever made was that one time she headed to Hammerlocke with John Sullivan to find out more about the darkest day. Perhaps, she could theoretically count that strange dream-like experience she had with the bearers of rusted sword and shield, but trying to remember anything about it gives her a bit of a headache.[break][break]

Kindness and warmth, a house filled with joy and laughter...[break][break]

"What was it like?"[break][break]

A weight falls light upon her shoulder, bristly whiskers poking at her left cheek as a Luxray purrs in greeting. And she'll reach up under his neck to give him a hug, leaning into him and smelling the soft scent of sap woven into his mane. Judging by how long he took to arrive, he must have been marking his turf to ward off any wild pokemon.[break][break]

"Welcome back. Didja get lost chasing a Pachirisu or something?"

[attr="class","textbox"]A blush shot across Isaac's face as he realized just how little he could say about his recent trip to Circhester. "Uh . . . yeah, I've been," he said, nervously rubbing the back of his head. "Little bit ago. It was nice!"[break][break]

Thanks to Genevieve Cromwell, it had been a lot more than nice. But that was talk for the big people.[break][break]

"The winter's beautiful this time of year, that's for sure," Isaac said. "There's some great hills for shredding things up on a snowboard. And nothing hits better than some comfort food and a big mug of hot chocolate when it gets nice and cold. Lots of history to see there, too. You'd love it."[break][break]

One of these days, he'd sneak the poor girl out of the region. Maybe when he could trust her a bit more to not sneak off.[break][break]

They weren't the only ones here. Reiner was here, having marked off this section of the forest as his. Okay. Sure. You're the boss, big guy. "There you are, Rei," Isaac said, giving him a quick scritch behind the ears. "S'good to see ya, buddy."

Humming to herself, she lets her mind wander off on the mention of hot chocolate, comfort food and history. Reiner, on the other hand, is greedy for the attention given, leaning into Isaac's scratches and huffing when it's quick to end.[break][break]

"Have you ever tried snowboarding before?" She doesn't seem it, but she's rather envious of those who can shred the ramps and do all those cool tricks on the slopes. Instead she's here, standing back up and thinking for a moment before daring to place a foot on the frozen lake.[break][break]

One foot, then another. Sure enough, the ice holds. And she's grins, looking to Isaac with both hands planted on her hips.[break][break]

"Look at me!! You're not the only one who can walk on water now!"

[attr="class","textbox"]Much like his trainer, Reiner could be all too affectionate when he wanted to be. With a fond eye-roll, Isaac gave the Luxray as many scritches as he needed. All the while, he heard Eris out. It sucked that the region couldn't go without exploding for five minutes. They deserved a vacation.[break][break]

"One of these days," he promised, voice resolute. "I don't care what it takes. I'm gonna find a way to show you the world." A part of him knew there was nobody out there that would appreciate it more. He just hoped he could while she still had a childhood to hold onto.[break][break]

How he wished he'd been there for her earlier.[break][break]

At least he wasn't alone. He smiled at the mention of Navy's trip with her. As an AQUA member, perhaps he shared that wiggle room now. As an ex-Rocket, maybe he was better off not pushing his luck. "Never been to one of those before," he said, because Hoenn wasn't exactly known for its rancher culture. "How was it?"[break][break]

As she asked if he snowboarded before, Isaac couldn't help but snicker. "Guess how many times I wiped out, and you'll have the answer to that one," he said. At least Genevieve Cromwell had found it cute that he gave it his 100%. Who needs being good at things?[break][break]

Other forms of ice and water were much more his forte, and in that regard Eris had become a chip off the old block. Arceus, that was adorable. Isaac couldn't help but join her, giving Reiner a last apologetic pat on the head. "Not bad, sis," he said, shooting her a proud grin. "I better watch my back before you win Suicune over!"

She prays that her mask doesn't slip in front of him, watching as Reiner takes a moment to scan the lake before taking a tentative step onto it himself. But perhaps, that isn't the thing she should be most worried about slipping. When the Luxray slides and bumps right into her, her legs splay a little as she throws her arms up to catch her balance.[break][break]

There was a lot of love in Isaac's heart for a lot of people. So much so that, were some omniscient narrator figure to tag every significant figure in his life, an entire website's worth of other omniscient narrator figures would find themselves buried in notifications. A part of him wished he could just put an end to this senseless war and let the whole region get some much-needed TLC.[break][break]

However, not everyone in the region had been promised a chance to see the wonders of the world. Not everyone had been told stories of the places they'd go and the legends they'd see. Among those who had been, few had such a chance torn from out of their hands while they were too small to even comprehend what they'd lost.[break][break]

He would fulfill the Halla family promise. It was the least he could do for his beloved little sister.[break][break]

While both of the two were stuck inside of their own thoughts, Eris found herself nearly thrown off balance. Reiner had been all too eager to join them, and now the poor girl was forced to flail with her arms instead of her words. Luckily, Isaac swooped in just in the nick of time. He sailed gracefully behind Eris, a gentle hand on her back helping her right herself.[break][break]

Perhaps, if she looked closely at his feet, she'd notice he had no skates. Perks of being with Suicune, apparently.[break][break]

"Hey, easy, easy," he said, voice soft and reassuring. It lasted maybe five seconds before his grin curled up into a cheeky tease. "If you're gonna wipe out on me, you've at least gotta make it a funny one!"[break][break]

If she was going to give Isaac a tiny little punch for messing with her, she'd have to catch him first. Isaac gave her a playful nudge with his elbow, then took off in a graceful arcing motion. Could she finally be the one to chase the northern wind?

Sure, the sudden surge of anticipation for the ensuing pain would shake whatever bits of weariness existed in her bones, but falling like this would never mean anything more than a scratch or a light bruise to both her butt and her ego. And yet he stabilises her, grants her a moment of safety -[break][break]

At least, till she sees that mischief written all over his face. Before she can reach over to punch him in the elbow, he nudges her and scatters like the very thing he embodies nowadays.[break][break]

"Awh, hell no." Narrowed eyes brew with a low snarl. With Reiner now digging his claws into the ice, she is ready when the Luxray shoves her forwards, hands outstretched as if preparing to grab Isaac like some sort of giant Rattata.[break][break]

"GET BACK HERE!"

Wait. Was it really that easy? Did Eris just need to say the word, and Isaac would come back for an asskicking? For a moment, it seemed to be the case. He crested around in a graceful arc, skating towards Eris without a care in the world.[break][break]

At least, at first that seemed to be the case.[break][break]

Just before she made contact, he snapped into action. Spreading his arms and kicking his legs out from under him, Isaac hit the deck. All the while, his body continued rolling forward, the waters beneath rolling him along like a conveyer belt. He slid past Eris, then rolled back up onto his feet as if nothing had happened. How could anyone hope to catch that level of limbo playing?[break][break]

Once he was done, he sped up again, snickering to himself. "Gonna have to try a little harder than that~!"

As he dodges like some funky fresh limbo champion at the region's hottest summer tournament, she growls much like a young Rockruff, quite nearly baring her teeth like one too.[break][break]

Try a little harder? Who does he think he is? Just because he's got a lil' blessing from an elusive god... If only she could slap a sygna suit connection on him, then watch him flop like a fish right out of the fishing hole.[break][break]

Alternatively, what she lacks can always be made up for.[break][break]

With a firm slap on the shoulder, Reiner starts barreling towards Isaac without the slightest shred of grace, eyes gleaming as he readily pounces at the man.

Even in his own element, Reiner was far more built for speed than Isaac was. He'd be run down in seconds if he didn't think of something fast. At best, quick turns could buy him some time, but if Reiner could find a way to swivel around on the ice he'd be doomed. What else could he do?[break][break]

A flash of light from behind him would be all the response he needed. Poor Reiner would find Twitch the Arctozolt emerging right in front of his place. The good news was that the dinosaur's big, fluffy body wouldn't hurt Reiner on impact. The bad news was, if he didn't get out of the way, he'd be bounced around like the world's fuzziest bumper car.[break][break]

Twitch, too, would end up sliding along the ice from the force of impact. There wouldn't be a thought in the Arctozolt's head as she slid across the frozen pond, waggling her little arms in delight. Isaac couldn't help but snicker as he hustled along, but would peeking at the spectacle over his shoulder cost him?[break][break]

In a duel with Eris Halla, every inch of ground lost could prove a disaster.

For a brief moment, Twitch would feel a weight briefly pressing upon his shoulder as a girl vaults right over.[break][break]

If every inch of ground lost could prove a disaster, Isaac sure as hell isn't prepared for a wild Eris to launch right at him.

His die-hard attitude and unpredictability had always been his greatest attributes, and now that he had a new bag of tricks to pair with them he had only gotten stronger.[break][break]

Of course, he wasn't the only one. In a flash of light, Eris and Reiner had swapped places, allowing the stubborn girl to vault off of Twitch like a trained gymnast. In a last blaze of glory, she sailed through the air, prepared to bring this little game of tag to a dramatic conclusion.[break][break]

Good thing Isaac was shredded these days.[break][break]

Rather than bowl him over, Eris would find herself being caught in midair by Isaac. He scooped her up into a warm jug, the force of her momentum leaving them drifting around the edge of the frozen pond. As they did, an amused laugh escaped him. "Pretty sneaky, sis," he said, a wry smile on his face. "Guess you caught me, huh?"[break][break]

With a little spin to wind down their momentum, he set Eris back down on the ground. As he did, his hand lingered behind for her to take if she so chose. "Guess this means we've got no choice but to keep skating," he said. "Gotta keep up my super-secret Avatar training 'til nobody can catch me."[break][break]

Uh huh. Sure. Totally not fishing for a reason to slack off.
